‘Hands On Poetry’ Evening

Hands On Poetry was the launch of ‘Hands Like Mirrors’ poetry anthology, featuring work by New Zealand and Australian writers.

Launched at Alphabet City with spoken word performances and collaborative zine making, Friday 22 July, as part of National Poetry Day 2011.

Our after party at the Wine Cellar featuring cupcakes, bands Luckless and Edward Gains and the Human Remains followed by Karaoke Dick taking us into the wee hours. Fun!

Comics workshop rescheduled!

Unfortunately due to a mix up last weekend, we were unable to bring to you the beginners comic workshop with Amy Mackinnon as planned.

Fortunately we have been lucky enough to be able to reschedule to this weekend!

The new date, time and location are:

Sunday 11:00am – 2:00pm

Thank you so much to everyone who came along, took part in a workshop or discussion, attended a talk or sat on a stall. The day ran smoothly and was well attended in every aspect.

Many thanks to the dedicated volunteers throughout the day, and of course to the K Road Business Association, Wine Cellar and Allelyua Cafe.

24 Hour Zine Making Challenge

Last weekend was the 24 Hour Zine Making Workshop at Tangleball. Participants were challenged with making a 24 page zine from scratch, either by themselves or as a team effort.

The zines that were produced during this challenge will be displayed at the Zinefest main event, this Saturday at Alleluya Cafe in St Kevins Arcade.

There is also a Photobooth gallery which documents the progress of the participants over the course of the 24 hours, which can be viewed here.

The idea for this event came from the ’24 Hour Zine Thing’ in Abingdon, Virginia, USA.

Big thanks to Tangleball and K Road Business Association for helping us put on this event.
