The 2013 Best of the Fest Zine was awarded to Lucy's Meyle's On the Exhale. The zine's seemingly simple lines, elongated figures and shapes, evoked a palpable restlessness and feelings of emptiness throughout the pages. A very big congratulations to Lucy, a prolific Auckland zine maker, for deftly capturing transient emotions and crystallised them into a physical entity that is the zine!

The Talks and Workshops of Auckland Zinefest 2013
May 3, 2014
We had some fantastic speakers and workshops held during the 2013 Zinefest. We'd like to thank everyone who hosted a talk or a workshop, it made the Zinefest all the more engaging and exciting!
Here are a few snapshots from the events...
David Coventon the typography workshop. The workshop had an amazing turnout and participants learnt how to design their own fonts.
Nick Baillie demonstrating how to design fonts in an editing software.
Sim Ahmed speaking about his own experience in publishing a digital photography magazine called Aucklandia. It was a really fresh perspective into independent publishing.
David Graham of GTO Printers demonstrating letterpress techniques using an Adana.
Auckland Central Library hosted a hands-on zine making workshop for the young ones.
Not pictured: Rob McLeay hosted a cartoon workshop for the kids. He taught them how to construct simples shapes into fantastical characters!
Auckland Zinefest 2013
April 16, 2014
In what is perhaps the slowest update ever, here are some photos from last years Auckland Zinefest.
It was held in July 2013 in St Kevin's Arcade on K'rd. There was a great turn out and also (duh) super awesome stallholders. Look out for an announcement regarding this years Zinefest coming soon!
